KTM incident

I had a little episode yesterday at the KTM station when I was heading back to Klang from KL Sentral. When I arrived at Platform 5, there was already a crowd there and the announcement came.

"Train ke Pelabuhan Klang akan tiba di Platform 5".

I thought it was my lucky day.

Although I was now at the back of the queue, I thought that maybe I'll manage to squeeze in so that I don't have to wait for the next train, which will come in another 20 minutes time.

When the train stopped, everyone rushed to get it (this is the one-door train which sucks cuz everyone will not want to give way to anyone). Eventually I was squashed between 2 ladies. Someone behind me was pushing me (cuz I think they wanna get in la). Usually I'll just let them push me. Cuz its one way I can actually enter the train without putting much effort, hehehe.

Finally I managed to actualy enter the train, but I was at the very edge. The person behind me kept pushing, but I can't move further in because the person in front me is not moving (although I'm also pushing her unintentionally due to the domino effect; you know like the girl behind me is pushing me so I push the girl in front of me kinda thing).

And then, there was this short guy with blue shirt, who was standing just right at the door in the train who mumbled "Orang tamak jangan naik keretapi".

At first I thought who he was talking to, so I looked up and I realised he was looking right at me!

I must have had the blur look cuz he repeated the exact sentence, this time even louder (assumely so that everyone can hear la).

Blardy hell I mana ada tamak!!! Like everyone else I was also trying to get into the train to go home. If he is so un-tamak, shouldn't he just step out of the train to let people get in?!?!?!

But I never said anything that time (cuz my brain wasn't really functioning that fast la). I kind of back off abit so now I had one leg in the train and one leg out of the train.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT HE DID?!?!?!?!?!

HE ACTUALLY WAVED HIS HAND IN A SWINGING MOTION (like shoo-ing away something) AT MY FOOT THAT WAS IN THE TRAIN AND THEN HE REPEAT HIS VERY INFAMOUS ORANG TAMAK JANGAN NAIK KERETAPI SENTENCE!!!

I looked up and I realised everyone is watching me (those who were standing near the door and could see and HEAR wat was happening la). Even those standing behind me had stopped pushing me since he called me tamak (that means they must have heard also la *sobs*). Most of them were staring at me with blank faces (why no one come up and support me or something one??). That time I felt my face turning hot with embarassment, although I know very well I did no wrong.

I then decided I didn't want to get into this train anymore. So I took my foot out from the train. Then, the girl behind me must have realised that she could still squeeze in, she so walked into the train and stood beside that idiot who MADE SPACE FOR HER!!!!(@*#&$^&%^^%$

And then another girl must have thought that maybe she could also squeeze in so she tried to go in but the stupid man actually held up his hand and say "Tak muat lagi" (He think he's the KTM conductor or something ah? Damn malu man!). Then the alarm beeped, indicating the door was about to close. So we all took a step back and the door shuts right in front of my face (remember I was standing at the very front).

He was at the other side of the door so before the train left, I was glaring at him with so much anger that I think could penetrate through the thickest glass. I was angry at first when he accused me (summore in front of public!), but when he actually let the girl in, I was already burning with fury.

Then only when the train left, my mind starts to reel about the possible things I COULD have done to end this differently (I dun know why is it my brain always starts to work AFTER something happens only, sigh). Like what will happened if I actually answered him back (but then my bm is horrible that I'll look like some pasar malam aunty scolding people in broken bm), or if I actually just force myself into the train ignoring him (but I'm sure he would have made my journey home a torture. Summore I'll be standing beside him, omg the image itself gives my goosebumps).

And then I started wishing that I'll bump into him one day again. This time I'll be IN the train at the door, and he'll be the one trying to get in. And then maybe he will be trying to cut queue, so the REAL KTM conductor will blow his whistle and make him stand aside to let people in (as a punishment for cutting queue). Then as he stands aside sulking while others enter, the alarm goes off and the door starts to close (he, still on the outside of cuz). Then just before it shuts, I'll mumble something about Orang Tamak Jangan Naik Keretapi and he'll look up at me, suddenly with recognition. Then I'll of course smile as sweetly as I can (maybe can even add a little wave la, to add salt on wound) as the train move pass him. Then from that day onwards, the blue shirt man will regret he ever accuse me for being tamak and making me wait another 20-30 min for the next train.

Ok, I should stop dreaming cuz I will never go wave to strangers.

The end.

I was planning on doing the 8 lapis tag thing by Samus Aran but I can't even think of 8 things I'm passionate about, so I'll have to postpone that first until I've found 8 things.

=)

MGS gathering

My mom got an sms from my aunt regarding a gathering for all MGS students and teachers. It reads:

"MGS OGA is organising the annual dinner on 5th July 2008 at the Royal Yatch Club at Port Klang. It would be a good time to catch up with our teachers and seniors. Cost is RM60 per person. Your support and prompt response is appreciated."

Come to think of it, the sms says "THE" annual dinner. Which means it HAPPENS EVERY YEAR? How come I never get invited until this year one? Hurmph

Since my mom is not from MGS, the message was meant for my sister and me. Coincidently, 5th of July is Ee Von's birthday!!! So how eevon? Wanna go celebrate your birthday with all our beloved cikgus and pengetua? (But its so expensive, as though we are paying to go for a prom -_-''')

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

We got our blood test reports back and luckily (thank god) we are healthy people!

Obviously the fatter arm on the right is...mine *ahem*

Having to fast a day before the blood test made us quite grumpy. So, right after having our blood drawn, we went to fruity and eat to our hearts' content.

Spaggethi Chicken Bolognaise. Loved it. My fav since the first time I ate in Fruity 8 years back

Ee Von's Fish and Chips. She says its yummy.

Oh, and anyone who loves mash potato with black pepper sauce, go to Fruity. They are so generous with the sauce that it looks like its mash potato with black pepper soup!

I'm serious.

Fang Chin has been replying my emails more frequently then I've expected (I'm glad he's such an internet lover that he can't stay away from the internet when he sees one, hehehehe). Everytime I see his name in my inbox, I'll get all excited, start clicking away to open his email (cuz the connection slows down everytime this happens) and then a stupid error message will pop up, to which I have to click "Don't Send" the report, and the Internet page will automatically close down.

And then I'll go "Nooo!"

And reopen IE again.

Yup, it happened 3 times already.

And so far FC has sent me 3 emails. Shocked See how impatient I am, sigh.

....Ok bye!

Its just the beginning

Fang Chin is leaving for Amsterdam today. And then he'll be hopping into about 6 different countries until 22nd June, where he'll be back in Nottingham for one day. And then he is off for a cruise trip to 3 different countries until 11th August, which he should be back in Malaysia.

Which means from today onwards until the 11th of August, all communications between us will be close to nil (sob sob somebody bring me a tissue quick!). cry

You see, what we normally do is chat online everynight, send offline messages when one is not online, send weird and quirky but cute emails, webcam on special occasions (why we don't do that on a daily basis I cannot explain Shocked omg now i'm feeling even sadder), send smses to each other when the computer's not in front of us (but of course not as frequent as how we used to in Malaysia) and on rare occasions, we call.

But now, he can't go online cuz he'll be on holidays; its unadvisable to call or text him cuz since he is not in UK, we'll be double charged; I can't send ugly (but sincere =P) hand-made cards to him anymore cuz he has no address (now he is nomad-ing wat)....for 2 months!! =(

He drew this 2 years ago in MSN and I think it means having a romantic stroll under the moonlight? (oh and my msn is cacated cuz I can't use the drawing function, I  dunno why)

I called him 3 times today, hoping that maybe by this way, I can cover up the times when we will not be chatting with each other. How I wish I have Doraemon's pintu suka hati to go to Amsterdam this very minute or one of those machines that bring me to the future (I would like today to be 11th of August please) or maybe a magic mirror that allows me to keep in contact with him when I rub it with my spectacles' cloth or maybe a really cool pillow that allows me to dream hop and I'll be dream hopping into his dreams everynight to tell him how my day went and how much I have missed him.

Can somebody slap me back to reality please?

Anyway, Ee Von and I will be going for our blood test tomorrow. So we are not allowed to have snacks right now. And its a Saturday night!! Say byebye to mamaks.

Since sitting the KTM to work every morning, I think my blood pressure level has increased. I'm serious. I get so annoyed when I hear " Ting ting ting ting..Train ke Pelabuhan Klang akan tiba dalam masa 20 minit; Train to Pelabuhan Klang will be arriving in 20 minutes time" when 20 minutes ago they said the exact same thing! And by the time the train ACTUALLY arrives (like 45 min later), the station will be packed with people (cuz of the delay so more people berkumpul already la) who will charged in once the door opens. No, we do not line up and no we do not let the people in the train get out first because if we do that, you'll see yourself standing at the station once more waiting for the NEXT train (oh yes, I once waited for 3 trains before I managed to enter one).

Once you are in the train, try not to stand at the pole area at the middle (unless you are a few stops away from your designated station). During peak season, the pole area is the most densed area in the train. Once I got stucked there and it was the worst position ever because I was facing someone who was breathing hot air right into my face (I think he was hyperventilating. I wouldn't blame him considering the stuffiness in the train) and I was back to back with a someone who was sweating quite badly that I could feel wetness at the back of my shirt (ewww..). Thank god I was heading home, not going to work.

Somebody should inform KTM management to fix their delays so that the train won't be overpopulated and cases of hyperventilation and hypersweatilation (its not a word so don't ever use it in exams) will not occur again.

Bye.

Hardcopy notes vs. Softcopy notes

Is it wiser to print notes or to read it straight from the slides in the laptop / computer? Tell me your choice in the comments section.

Pros of Hardcopy notes:
- can highlight
- can make notes at the side
- portable / can read anytime, anywhere

Cons of Hardcopy notes:
- waste paper
- waste money
- waste ink
- poor trees
- take up space

Pros of Softcopy notes:
- save paper
- save money
- save ink

Cons of softcopy notes:
- not portable / can't read anytime, anywhere
- spoilt eyes because keep staring at screen
- files can corrupt anytime

3 vs. 3
Hurmph

Now what??

=.="

Japan's Invention

Japan is well known for their high tech inventions for modern day society. From robots to self heating bento boxes, it is not unusual for the society wanting to visit Japan if they could afford. Well, the Japanese have come up with another new "invention". Not really new anymore but still, it's something new to me.

I guess this new "invention" does not apply only to females but to males as well. We all know that beauty products have improved dramatically compared to years before. Take any beauty product off the shelves in a mall and you would see many "claims" written at the back. Some claim to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, black heads and some even claim to make you look fairer.

Well here's something new. Ever wished for more radiant skin? Wished you could touch real gold? Here is your chance. Presenting......the Gold Leaf Facial Treatment. During this treatment, gold leaves are places around the face then massage is given. Should be expensive eh? It cost $300 for a session. Roughly about 30,000 yen or just a little under RM1000. Worth it? You decide.

Oh, and if you are curious about how you would look with the gold leaves on, here's a picture of it. It reminds me of something else though.

*sings* I will follow you...

Looks like the Digi yellowman to me. Don't you think so? No? Look again. I bet you would agree at some point. *winks*

Cheers~

Harvesting

Last week I had a chance to actually enter a delivery room!

It started like every other working morning. I was in the lab when my senior told me there is a harvesting case coming up and I have to get ready. It was 11+am.

At 12.30pm, I was already in front of the delivery suite with my senior (cuz its my first time so she tagged along. Normally I would have to go to the hospital on my own). I was nervous and excited and scared and anxious and all the feelings that you will feel if you are doing something for the first time that I couldn't sit still. Then a nurse came out and told us that the woman's dilation was only about 3 - 4 cm (the baby will pop out when its about 9 cm). That means we still have hours and hours before the baby comes out. Hurmph Kena conned and made us rush to the hospital, cish.

So, we went to have our lunch. We ate for about 1 hour plus and then we walked back to the delivery suite. I thought by that time the opening should have dilated to about at least 6-7 cm right?

Wrong!

When we went back, the nurse said, "Oh, baru 5 cm" -_-'''

So nevermind. We sat outside and waited.

And waited.

And waited....

I borrowed my senior's Stephen King novel The Shining and decided to read it (earlier she offered la but then I abit scared cuz you know la, horror stories + hospitals = don't read). She told me she wanted to take a walk around the hospital cuz she's dozing off.

So, there I was reading the first few pages of The Shining in the slightly dimly lighted waiting area, getting all imaginative about the characters of the story and the haunted Overlook Hotel, when the door of the delivery suite opened. A nurse dressed in pink announced that the lady is ready to deliver.

I'm pretty sure at that moment the fear that gripped me was far greater than when I'm watching a horror movie with my eyes and ears opened in the cinema.

*ahem*. No-la I'm exaggerating. I'm more afraid of ghosts than bloody vaginas.

Casper

Anyway, since my senior was nowhere to be found, I had to walk into the room myself. I was told to put on my gloves and wear a face mask (for hygenic reasons) and then I stood right outside the lady's room. The curtain was drawn so I could hear her screaming but I could not see her. The husband was standing next to me (that's surprising cuz I thought husbands are supposed to be beside the wives during the WHOLE delivery process) and he looked just as blur as me (it was their first child).

Then my senior came running in and it kinda calmed me down alittle. She told me that this hospital will only allow me to enter AFTER the baby was delivered, so I don't have to witness the process (which is good cuz just by listening to the woman scream was enough to make my tummy squirm).

And then, one nurse called the husband in. After awhile, I heard the doctor announced that the baby was delivered, and as a nurse pushed the curtain aside to let me in, another nurse with the newborn baby walked out. The baby looked....purple (that's the best I can describe something I saw for a split second =D ).

The first thing that greeted me when I stepped behind the curtain was of course....

......

...the doctor (whack yourself if you are thinking of something dirty) Big Smile

The doctor asked if I was new (cuz I must have looked blur) and I nodded and he said "Sei lor" Hurmph (grrr...if you ask me the next time I won't give you the same answer ok!). -Oh, forgot to mention that I entered the room alone while my senior waited for me outside cuz they only allowed one person to enter to reduce contamation blabla.

As I knelt down to collect the umbilical cord blood in the blood bag, I realised that natural birth is not as messy as I thought it would be. I expected to see puddles of blood splattered on the floor and the table so much so that I need to hop around the room to avoid stepping on blood but no, it was quite clean and neat. However, I find it rather odd to see the umbilical cord sticking out from the mother like that, and I have this urge to pull it out.

Just kidding, just kidding! Big Smile

Sigh, I'm now currently reading PS. I love you by Cecelia Ahern and I'm feeling all emo. This morning I randomly youtubed some Korean MTV (cuz Korean mtvs tend to be more romantic, hehehe) to match my emo emotions at the moment.

Oh, and if anyone is interested to take a blood test to check for a whole lot of diseases such as Diabetes, Hepatitis, heart diseases, blood pressure, tumuor markers etc etc (I'm not very sure about the details at the moment, but will find out real soon), please drop a comment. It will be at the St.John's HQ (the blood drawing and tests will be done by Pathlab) on 1st June 2008 and it only cost RM100 for everything. Its actually VERY SUPER cheap cuz I once did a blood test (also by pathlab) to test for HepB antigents and antibodies (only) and it cost me a freaking RM25! So, let me know if you are interested ok? =D

Sunday's post

Wow it has been quite awhile since this blog has been updated. I still have about one hour and a half to kill till I leave the house to follow Ee Von and gang for steamboat buffet. I don't know about you guys, but whenever I go to this steamboat buffet, I only look forward to one particular food...

BBQ CHICKEN WINGS... HERE I COME!!!

Its so good, you have to queue up to get them. And you have to queue BEFORE the wings are brought out from the kitchen. Cuz once they are placed on the table, people will start rushing to take as many pieces as their plates can hold. And if you happened to be unlucky and the person in front of you took the very last piece, do not despair and most importantly, DO NOT move away from your queue (If not you'll end up not eating at all). Also, there would be some aunties who will pretend to take other food while trying to cut queue with you. So, stay alert and do not day dream.

Let the chicken wings bring out the worst in you =)

A picture taken more than one year ago in Yeong Kwan's car when we were on our way to eat steamboat buffet. How time flies by huh?

Yeah, that is how much I love chicken wings. One day, See Ting tried to kill my love for chicken wings by telling me that I'm actually eating the chicken's ketiak! -_-'''

How dare she try to break the bond between me and the wings right (whether or not its true I don't care, grrrr..)?

...hmm....I don't know what else to blog about...Life has been pretty routine for me these few days.

Oh, these are the few last pics I took with Fang Chin in London before heading back to Malaysia (shall post it here since I doubt he'll blog about it =))

We went to a park called.... (oh no! I forgot the name. This is the akibat of procrastinating *sigh*). There was a Peter Pan statue playing a flute. That's when Fang Chin showed his true colours when I caught him...

.....curiously peeping underneath!!! (Why they built Tinkerbell right underneath Peter Pan still remains a mystery to me)

A beautiful London bridge

There was one signboard near the lake with the warning that goes something like that:

Do not feed, stress worry the bird.

UK's air must have made me abit of a cuckoo that day cuz when I first read the signboard (aloud summore), I told Fang Chin the most ridiculous statement a 22 year old can ever make.

"Wow, I didn't know the bird's name is Worry".

You see, I thought these birds in the lake (bangau lookalike) is a type of species called Worry. And because the signboard was missing some punctuations, I misinterpreted the words. -_-'''

Needless to say, I was teased the whole day. To get on my nerves, FC would just have to mention something like" There, that's Worry the bird" in a such a serious tone, as though he wasn't joking.

Oh, and this was NOT the only stupid mistake I made during my stay in UK. There was another one that involves a nursery rhyme and its so embarassing I'm not enclosing it here. To torture me, he'll hum the tune once in awhile and when I give him the "look", he'll ask innocently "What? So now I can't hum that song ah?" Hurmph

In London, you don't have to worry about stepping on dog's poo in the park. Cuz guess what?

There were special bins for dog's waste in the park! I pity the person who is responsible for emtpying the bins, hehehe.

There was a fountain built in memory of Princess Diana in the park.

.....

this post has really no meaning eh?

Ok, gotta go get ready for dinner tonight.

To darling thousand of miles away, wish you good luck in your upcoming exams. =D

Job

Since I have time, I've decided to share abit on my first full time job (To know the remaining stories about my time in UK and Paris, click HERE Big Smile hehehe).

I'm currently working in a company dealing with stem cells from umbilical cord blood. Basically this company collects stem cells from the blood and preserve and store them at the right conditions so that they can be used in the future for medical purposes (to know more about stem cells and how they can benefit us in the future, go yahoo and find yourself).

So, my job as a Biomedical Technologist is to:

1) follow mothers into labour room to collect the cord blood as soon as the baby is delivered, regardless whether the delivery is natural or caesarian (only occurs in certain hospitals, so it is not often, and I have yet to go). Honestly, bloody sights scare me. I'm thinking which is better; natural birth where I'll be able to watch the mother scream her lungs out or the C-section where I'll be in an operating theatre watching the doctor do the operation *gasps*. I was told that the natural birth takes longer time as the baby does not pops out on account (so have to wait while the mom huffs and puffs away) while C-section is all planned and timed. Pushing all the fears aside, I'm wondering what do I do if I enter the labour room and see someone familiar, say...my ex-school teacher. Do I go up to her and say "Hi cikgu!!" waving enthusiastically while wishing her tahniah and maybe comment on her unshaved legs or something or do I just shuddup to avoid all embarrassment? *hehe*

2) screen blood for contamination, separate the stem cells from the other components of blood and then store the cells. This whole process takes about.....6 hours minimum for one sample (as new lab techs, we tend to do everything SLOWER, so u have a rough idea how I spend my weekdays). -_-'''. However, since I've only worked for one week, I'm not allowed to touch real samples yet until I've mastered all the techniques well (cuz once we contaminate it due to using the wrong technique, we are DEAD).

Owing that this company is involved with pregnant mothers, we as lab technicians do not have holidays. CNY, Christmas..blabla, we are still on-call (sigh, that's the very sad thing). Also, we work round the clock, in-case some mothers deliver in the middle of the night like 4 am. Shocked

But, all in all, I would have to say that I'm quite satisfied with the job. Good colleagues, good working environment, satisfactory first job salary, interesting job, exciting events (in labour rooms?), I'm not complaining. Big Smile.

Yet.

Wait till Fang Chin comes back and I'll be bawling my eyes out if I can't celebrate Valentines Day with him.cry

We signed this guest book at the top of Eiffel tower. FC drew the whole thing and I added the cookie monster word (obviously eh, since that writting was neater? =P JKJK)

The only problem is that this company is in Midvalley and I wake up 5.30am every morning to go to the train station. Sigh. The most kesian part is when I work the night shift, it goes past midnight, which means the last train would have left, and this means my dad have to come pick me up.

I should find an apartment.
